I thought that title might get your attention. There has been a local Michigan debate over the medicating of the municipal water supplies. I agree with the vote taken by the Hartland Township Board of Trustees. They voted to end the addition of Fluoride to the municipal water supply. The accusation has been made that Fluoride was first used in Nazi Concentration camps, I will have more information in another blog about that. I was not planning on going down the fluoride trail this quickly in my blog. But what changed that plan was an article in the Hartland Patch. The author of the article is one of my journalism professors at the University of Michigan Flint. He is Christofer Machniak and he is the editor of the Hartland Patch. The following is a link to that article:
http://hartland.patch.com/articles/with-poll-hartland-township-to-close-tap-on-extra-fluoride-in-drinking-water
I am also providing a link to a video by a BBC reporter on the history of fluoride in water:
I am also providing an article from an organization in Canada regarding fluoride in drinking water. The article covers the history and some of the known dangers of the practice. Click on this link for the article: http://www.consumerhealth.org/articles/display.cfm?ID=19990817225011
We will talk more later.

pH and a lightbulb
This is a very interesting video by Dr. Young on the nature of the energy in the body, and pH:
One thing that frustrates me with medical science is the fact that if someone has a new, innovative way of looking at illness or health it is treated with skepticism. But the fact is that if I was told I had cancer and that there was no cure, I would be looking for answers. The cure rate for cancer is better than it was, but would you want to be one of the statistics that ends in death. For my cousin Sonnie, unfortunately in October she was one of the death statistics. What if the cure was a lot more simple than what the established oncology world believes it is. What if just like in the movie "War of the Worlds" from the 1950's, the answer is low tech. I have already decided for me that I would not pursue traditional cancer treatments if I ever get the disease. I have seen too many family and friends die from that. I am not knocking them. My Mom is a breast cancer survivor who had a double mastectomy. But I know of people personally who have beat cancer from alternative treatments. Again I am not a medical professional, and I am not advising anyone other than myself to do such a thing in the future. But I would like you to read and view the information on this blog and discuss it with your health care professional team if it is of interest to you.
Dr. Young and others who talk of these alternative practices are called quacks. I adopted the method for eating that he recommended in the book. It is called "food combining". A nutrition book I had in a nutrition class said the practice was not credible. But after following the protocol I was able to eliminate my acid-reducing medications. It worked for me. Enjoy the video.

Cancer and new old treatment
This is an interesting article on a new study which looked at the benefit of bone health medications given to women with breast cancer. The drugs increased their survival rate, which was by-product of the treatment for bone loss. I personally wonder if it is due to the alkalizing properties of some of those treatments. They do not go into that, but it would be a good study to do. Here is the link to the article this past week:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45604725/ns/health-cancer/#.TubCtUf1AlM
While I am on the subject of cancer I wanted to include a video of an Italian doctor who is having success treating cancer with sodium bicarbonate. The video describes his own understanding of what causes cancer and how he treats it:
1-Dr Simoncini, Cancer, l'hypothèse fongique (VO... by JLGUIGUIL
I am not saying that this treatment is successful but it is worth noting if you or a loved one is suffering from the disease and the treatment options are limited. As always discuss all health matters with your professional medical team before changing your personal medical regiment.

How digestion works, and acid/alkali food charts
In this post I want to address some of the major causes of excess acid in the body, and what foods are beneficial. I seem to do well on more proteins and worse on carbohydrates. I will discuss that in another post (there is a reason for that, and it is tied to blood type). I ate so much cheese that I was sweating ammonia. I read that it is because of too much protein in the diet. I asked my physicians assistant about that. She said that she had heard of that in individuals who drank too many protein drinks. I have done the high protein diet in the past. I used to eat about a half pound of cheese a day. I really do well on proteins except for a few facts. The first is that I was taking two prescription acid reducing pills a day and still had acid reflux at night. The other thing is that I have thyroid problems. Both of those symptoms are typical of too much acid in the body. I was shocked when I read the previous mentioned book by Dr. Young. I never realized I was poisoning my own body with every day food. Dr. Young has done a tremendous amount of studies on the blood, including live blood studies. When I decided to make the change in my life to change my diet, I did a modification of his diet. His diet recommends eliminating meat, I did not. I did cut way back on my protein intake. The one thing that was difficult for me was eliminating all dairy products. My mom was raised on a dairy farm so that was generational blasphemy for me. The biggest change after eliminating dairy was that I no longer suffered from chronic sinus infections.
In the article below Dr. Young addresses the digestion process in a very in depth and technical way. He also highlights what a high protein diet does to the digestion process and the body functions:
http://articlesofhealth.blogspot.com/2011/09/why-eating-meat-and-cheese-leads-to.html
When I changed my diet I felt terrible for a week or so as my body was changing the pH level. It took about three weeks for me to finally feel great. I felt unbelievable after the change. An acid reducing diet is not an easy one to follow. That is mainly attributed to convenience. However I wanted to include some guidance on foods that are more alkalizing. Below are four links to some sites that have charts on those foods:

Alkalinity and the body continued
I heard somebody say one time that the only time the body should be acidic is when it is dead. We definitely see the problem with the acidic body, to speak plainly, it rots. The blood has a blood pH of 7.365. On the pH scale, 7 is considered neutral. Anything above seven is alkali and anything below 7 is acidic. Different parts of the body have higher or lower pH levels. The body will fight very hard to maintain this 7.365 blood pH level. It will maintain it by pulling electrolytes from the muscles and bone. Some of the common problems of acid imbalance are indigestion, skin break outs, adrenal problems, sinus problems, joint pain, fatigue, and mental confusion.
The major way our pH levels are effected is by the food and fluids we take into our bodies. See the article below:

Another valuable site that describes body pH is at the link below, (it has a great visual of the body with different symptoms listed for different parts of the body):

Human Illness, invaders from without or within
What I want to address in this Blog Post is the nature of human illness. Again what I have learned is from a lot of reading and sources that are either Doctors or alternative medical professionals.
Over the last fifteen years of my life I have been prescribed new medicines to address each new illness I developed. I am not discrediting those who prescribed them to me, their therapy is the one that is the most common in this country. But I was getting tired of adding to my daily medication list. What I used to believe was that foreign invaders were coming into my body and making me sick. If that were true some questions could be asked. Now the first question to ask ourselves is how did people before modern medicine attack these invaders? The second question is does not our body have an internal defense system (the immune system) to fight these invaders?
What changed my opinion on the nature of human illness was reading the book "The pH Miracle" by Robert O. Young, Ph.D., and Shelley Redford Young. The greatest thing that I learned was that through poor nutrition I create an environment in my body that allows illness to grow. The problem is that most illness springs from within my body's internal environment. These ideas are not new. Two schools of thought emerged in France in the 19th century. Antoine Bechamp was a contemporary of Pasteur. He taught the mycrozymian theory. However, Pasteur's Germ Theory became the predominant theory in medicine.
The following link is to an article on Bechamp:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antoine_B%C3%A9champ
The basis of what Bechamp was saying was that illness does not so much come from bacteria invading our bodies. He said that we are constantly invaded by bacteria and viruses. The problem is that the body creates an environment that these invaders and invaders from within can foster in. See the three articles below:

http://www.laleva.org/eng/2004/05/louis_pasteur_vs_antoine_bchamp_and_the_germ_theory_of_disease_causation_2.html
I have learned that when I stray from the "healthy diet" I have adopted, I have a tendency to get sick. However, I have not been to the doctor in one year. When I do get sick, I correct my diet back to what it should be and I get better. Well that is all for now. The next blog will discuss a little more about this internal environment. After that I will discuss the pH nature of the body.

A Second Introduction-My family's cancer struggles
This blog is something I will be passionately building. I am new to the blogging scene, so bare with me as we get this rolled out. My motivation is of a deeply personal matter. I just had a cousin die of cancer in October. She passed away within three weeks of the diagnosis. I also have three other cousins and an uncle who have been diagnosed with the disease in the last four months.
What I want to do with this Blog is make a lot of information and discussion about alternative medicine and diet available to you and others. I have read a lot in the past year, and believe that as individuals we need to gather as much information as possible. Once we have done that we can make informed and personal choices.
In the next blogs we will discussing the nature of illness in the human body, and how body pH and blood type effect that. In this post I want to roll out some links to some websites with alternative approaches to cancer. Read these with an open mind, but if something seems too extreme, please just say "maybe this is not right for me, but may be for others." I would add: always discuss any changes you plan on making with your healthcare provider.
Here are a few sites with alternative cures for cancer:

First Post of Free Yourhealth
Welcome,
I am glad you decided to read this blog. In November of 2010 I began a journey of personal health. Since that time I have eliminated 5 prescription drugs that I was taking. I have lost 35 pounds. My weight is currently 165 pounds. That is optimal for my height. One of the drugs I eliminated was my blood pressure medicine. I was tired of the aches and pains that I had. Also the cost of the drugs was getting out of control. So I began reading books on personal health. Many of them would be considered alternative.
There are four main things that I attribute my change of health to. The first is the elimination of acid causing foods from my diet. The goal of this is to make you body slightly alkaline. Bacteria and viruses cannot survive in an alkaline environment. The second important thing is also related to diet. That would be the elimination of inflammation causing foods. The primary one of these is dairy. I used to suffer from chronic sinus infections. I was usually on antibiotics 3 to 4 months out of the year. Since eliminating dairy I have not had one sinus infection. The third area of importance is to eat for your blood type. This means that each blood type digests foods differently. An example is me as a Blood Type O. I digest proteins way better than a Blood Type A. And the fourth area of importance is the use of supplements. There are two main areas of importance. The first is the use of dietary supplements. Our food today is lacking most of the nutrients it used to have. Supplements such as enzymes, vitamins and minerals are important. The other area of supplements would be oxidizing and curative. There are many natural aids to boosting the oxygen level in the body. Also there are many natural products that cure disease.
This post has only been a quick overview of the very basic ideas I will be posting about. Due to the nature and breadth of the information it will require many more posts. I will monitor this Blog. And I do welcome any questions you may have. Going forward I will continue to provide short, informative posts. These posts will be a lot more in depth. The posts will also contain the sources for this information. You are encouraged to check out the source material I will provide in the future. After the short informative post I will respond to questions you may have. Also please see my introduction video below.
Regards,
Marty
